Spring 2025 sees the UK’s Amplifier release their 8th studio album GARGANTUAN and a return to playing live shows following a hiatus since 2019. This tour – Amplifier’s first ever as a two-piece – proves that their passion for the core activity of making music is clearly undiminished.
“Our main value is just do what you love for the love of it. If you do that, then anything that comes along with it is just a bonus.”
You can expect to climb aboard the good spaceship Amplifier and ride the titanic waves and grooves of triumph.
The pared-down two-piece line-up sees Amplifier come full circle in a story of survival for two musicians linked only by chance and friendship for over 30 years.
“There was never a masterplan. When we first started, it literally was just me and Matt. We spent almost two years just playing together as non-jazz, ex-music students in Manchester in the early ’90s. Back then ‘space rock’, if you like, didn’t really exist anymore. There wasn’t much of a market for the long improvisational jams that we were doing… way before even Mogwai existed.”
Since those formative times Amplifier have gone on to spawn many rock classics and a cult like following of fans around the world that continues to grow day by day.
Always uplifting and optimistic, the glory of the riff is something to be celebrated. Expect to climb aboard the good spaceship Amplifier and ride the titanic waves and grooves of triumph.
