No-one goes to gigs in January, they said… Pfft, to HELL with that.
We’re fighting off the January blues with three of our favourite alternative acts that the UK has to offer. CLT DRP, Fuzz Lightyear and Colossal Squid are here to bring the noise on Saturday 15th.
Immerse yourself in JANUARY DREAD.
CLT DRP are Brighton Electro-Punks drawing influence from musically-diverse acts ranging from The Prodigy, ho99o9, and Death Grips to Meshuggah, with a splash of Peaches thrown into the mix for good measure. Wherever they play, audiences are blown away by the energy and intensity they bring to their live performances.
Fuzz Lightyear have produced a devoted fandom who followed them from house parties to sold out shows, due to hard-hitting songwriting and boisterous live energy. As their sounds evolved to incorporate influences ranging from Sonic Youth to Deftones, from Nirvana to Show Me the Body, they developed a noise-grunge sound that stood strong in a post-punk age.
Colossal Squid is the solo project of the greatest fucking drummer in the country – Adam Betts. Since his time with experimental math legends Three Trapped Tigers, he has been behind the kit for Squarepusher, Jarvis Cocker, Goldie and more. To see him, is to believe him.
CLT DRP:Â “Brighton’s best kept secret…glitchy, twitchy songs of female empowerment” – Dork MagazineÂ
Fuzz Lightyear: “Noisy psychedelic garage rock with spice – touches of inventiveness, songwriting craft, musical skill. But in the end, fuck does this thing rock” – Local Sound Focus
Colossal Squid: “Drum nuts will salivate over the way in which Betts has managed to fuse himself with his gear, but for anyone else, it’ll be a pleasure just to hear him play drums like it’s the end of the world” – The Line of Best Fit
