Line-up of the year alert!
We’re thrilled to welcome three astonishing artists to Ramsgate on December 14th: Nuha Ruby Ra, Baba Ali and Vanity Fairy. Two searing glimpses into the underworld, and a remarkable treat during the festive season… do NOT miss this one, folks.
“It’s a noisy, explosive collection, but one embarked upon with composure and a winking calmness. It’s Nuha Ruby Ra that exists in the belly of this dragon that she creates – swirling, twisting, breathing a ferocious fire that rushes through each snarling moment” – DIY
2022 saw Nuha Ruby Ra release her new singles ‘My Voice’ and ‘Self Portraiture’ on Brace Yourself Records. The singles follow 2021’s ‘How To Move’ EP, released to critical acclaim cementing Nuha as one of the most exciting and provocative new acts in the country. Her new EP ‘Machine Like Me’ arrives in March 2023 and is her most ambitious body of work to date. She is heading out on tour with Self Esteem in support of the release, and has previously toured with the likes of Yard Act, Warmduscher, Viagra Boys, King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard and Bambara, and has appeared at festivals such as SXSW, Glastonbury, The Great Escape, Bluedot, Latitude, Boardmasters, Grauzone, Reeperbahn and more.
Recognised as one of the most electrifying new acts to emerge from the UK in the past year, Baba Ali is the combined force of American performer and musician Baba Doherty and British guitarist Nik Balchin. Following the release of their debut Memory Device in 2021 and 18 months of touring, Baba Ali return with one foot firmly placed on the dance floor, and the other in a state of frenzy. The bold and fiery lead single ‘Burn Me Out’ from the upcoming sophomore album ‘Laugh Like A Bomb’, serves as a blueprint for what the duo call their ‘electro punk disco’ sound and was premiered by Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music. Onstage, Baba Ali is a captivating and seductive presence, transmitting a wall of sound that fills the room with an infectious raw energy and groove that makes standing still impossible.
“Purveyors of the brilliantly unexpected… Baba Ali marry disco and post-punk stylings in glorious harmony on their disorienting, ambitious second album” – NME
“A Thrilling Debut From Nuha Ruby Ra… a slap in the face of convention” – The Quietus
