Oldfield Youth Club, who released their debut album this year on the prestigious Tiny Global Recordings, play a very rare show in Ramsgate on Friday 1st November!
Oldfield Youth Club were formed by Simon and Kim Rivers in 2018, after both had been in seminal indie bands, Last Party and The Bitter Springs during the 80s and 90s.
Joined by school friend and former Last Party member Neil Palmer on drums and Allison Thomson on trumpet, keyboards and vocals, the band released their debut album, ‘The Hanworth Are Coming’ in 2024.
Named after the youth club in Hampton they would frequent as kids, Oldfield Youth Club came about when Neil Palmer, former Last Party and The Bitter Springs drummer, started playing drums with Simon again. With Kim Rivers now on bass and vocals, and, later, Ramsgate resident Allison Thomson on trumpet and keyboards, Oldfield Youth Club were formed.
With the band’s name evoking memories of their teenage years, the recently released ‘The Hanworth Are Coming’ album has a collection of literate and upbeat songs that has a connection to the musical style of Vic Godard and the Go Betweens, with compassionate but earthy lyrics which reflect on life with all its sadness and occasional glories but also rich humour.
Oldfield Youth Club are delighted and excited to be joined by special guest RJ Hacker of the legendary Morton Valence with a rare solo performance.
Make sure you get there for this…
