We’ll be counting down to 2022 with the finest Funk, Soul, Rare Groove, Disco, Boogie & Northern Soul around, on a sound system that really gets kickin’. Let’s celebrate in style!
If you’re a lover of Soul, Funk & Disco then our STUDIO 54 celebration is the NYE party for you! Because, the ultimate New Year celebration would surely require jumping into Doc Brown’s DeLorean, slotting Sylvester’s ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)’ into the cassette player and blasting back to December 31, 1977 (or ’78) at which point in time the car would squeal to a halt right outside 254 West 54th Street in New York City – home of the legendary Studio 54, once the best known nightclub in the world. In fact, no one would be likely to bat an eyelid if you did turn up in Doc Brown’s DeLorean. After all, it was considered quite normal when Bianca Jagger arrived for her birthday party on the back of a horse!
So this year arrive like a star, rockin’ your best retro vibes with glam dresses, jumpsuits, velvet anything, fur coats, glittery outfits, white suits, loud shirts and wide brimmed hats or whatever takes your fancy. They’ll be prizes for the best outfits, so get your glad rags on and party like it’s 1977!!
DJ Hooch
Having worked with the likes of George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Junie Morrison, Bernie Worrell, Horny Horns, Don Blackman, The Last Poets, Babe Ruth Band plus many more, Hooch is the man when it comes to Funk & Soul. He ran the ubiquitous Funkin’ P’ club in the heart of London’s Covent Garden for 15 years, has DJ’d all over the globe and was one of the chief instigators of the Funk resurgence in the early 90’s.
Jeff Levy
Ramsgate based crate digger with a penchant for rare funk & Soul 45’s , Jeff Levy is a DJ with an unmistakable groove present throughout his sets, which includes Funk, soul, jazz, boogie, disco, breaks & all thangs Funky!
Clive Johns
A man of Kent (born and raised in the Medway towns and a Gillingham FC season ticket holder) who made his name as a DJ in London, Clive brings a compelling blend of musical knowledge and technical skill to the Ramsgate Soul Train. A veteran of countless private parties and high profile club nights Clive’s CV includes residencies and guest spots at such legendary events as Southport soul weekender, We Love Soul, Club 8090, Peoples Club and many more
