What better way to celebrate 10 years of Ramsgate Music Hall than welcoming back the artist who has graced this stage more than ANY other?
The wonderful BABii returns for a special show on Friday 6th October! Exhilarating electronic music that sounds right at home in our small chamber of noise…
“What sets the BABii project apart–the album, the aesthetic, the sonics and the GLOO community–is the uniform attention to detail; the pursuit for perfection, even when the tools to achieve it aren’t automatically to hand” – Loud & Quiet
BABii is the alter-ego of master creator, world builder and electronic adventurer Daisy Warne. She produces tracks that feature skittering beats and fractured synths where 808 bass booms sit beneath delicate, celestial chords and lyrics about shadows pirouette around glimpses of light. Audio samples move forwards, then in reverse, woven seamlessly into the fabric of Warne’s pristine production.
Last year she released her collaborative mixtape ‘SCREAMER’, featuring collaborations with a wealth of influential producers such as Iglooghost, umru (Charli XCX, Dorian Electra etc), SV1, Jennifer Walton (Kero Kero Bonito), Pholoand Warpstr (Yung Kayo, Yeat). SCREAMER has been created both sides of the Atlantic however it takes a heavy influence from British dance music with musical touchstones from bassline, garage and DnB. An extended version of the mixtape ‘SCREAMER_edit_Vii’ with five new tracks landed in early 2023 and was followed by a Splice pack for umru’s moments, and collaborations & remixes.
She spent June on tour in China and returns to North America in September. BABii works at a prolific rate, since 2019 she has released 2 solo albums, a mixtape, a collaborative album with Iglooghost & Kai Whiston and an EP while also writing a book, ARG and designing all the visuals for her work. She has toured North America, UK, Europe and Japan, played festivals such as SXSW, Great Escape, End of the Road and Swn and toured with Iglooghost, Chk Chk Chk (!!!) and WHY?.
“This is a very smart record, and one that bears repeated listening. The emotional maturity and frank lyricism shine through the electronic sounds and idiosyncrasy of her style” – The Quietus
“SYMMETRii’s splintered-glass percussion, the dubstep-like bass drones of Sherwood co-production ‘PHANTOM’ and ‘POiiSON’’s glacial rave stabs capture a genuine talent in the process of realising its own potential” – Q Magazine
“Keep your ears peeled for this girl, she’s going places” – Lauren Laverne, BBC Radio 6 Music
