31st August 2023 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm Ramsgate Music Hall - CT11 8NJ

We’re overjoyed to welcome Dilettante to Ramsgate on Thursday 31st August! Her live shows are an awe-inspiring genre-phobic loop-fest, featuring everything from fuzzy guitar licks to 5-part saxophone harmonies.

When not making music, Francesca Pidgeon moonlights in BC Camplight and enjoys slamming into people on skates at the roller derby. Her material is nigh-on essential for fans of St Vincent, tUnE-yArDs, Dirty Projectors and Fiona Apple.

“A white-knuckle ride of gloriously tuneful 20-something angst. A jazzy, brassy paean to modern anxiety. Dilettante is a consummate multi-instrumentalist, making brilliantly extravagant art-pop soap operas”Electronic Sound Magazine

Dilettante is an art-rock collective led by multi-instrumentalist Francesca Pidgeon and is based in Northern England. Primarily a guitarist and singer but, owing to a lack of social skills, she taught herself clarinet, saxophone, piano, bass and trumpet and bought a loop pedal in an attempt to avoid human contact. However, this proved difficult and she soon enlisted the aid of Aaron Collins-Wood (bass) Jack Mee (drums) and Rachel Rimmer (guitar/vocals).

Recently Dilettante have sold out headline shows in Manchester, Leeds, Halifax, London, Hull and Liverpool. They have supported the likes of Self Esteem, Caribou, Graham Coxon (Blur) and Philip Selway (Radiohead) plus festival appearances at Kendal Calling, Live at Leeds, Manchester Jazz Festival, Focus Wales and The Great Escape. Their debut album ‘Tantrum’ was released in October 2022.

“Some of the most beautiful and interesting art rock/pop instrumentation I’ve ever heard accompanied by stunning vocal harmonies front to back. Please give this a listen!”International Music Desk

“Dilettante’s set is an exceptional performance piece, an unreal amount of live layering. Francesca spits vocals with deft pronunciation; this level of art wouldn’t work with sunshine and smiles. Exceptional.”NARC Magazine
