“Thanet’s answer to Scott Walker” – Maximum Volume Music
Evan Williams is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Thanet. Having grown up on the coast, Evan’s songs are spiked with the highs and lows of life in a seaside town. Like his voice, Evan’s lyrics have a maturity beyond his years, poetically spitting out warnings and cries for help.
In 2021 Evan released his debut single ‘When The Shutters Rise Again’, a lockdown ballad that was described by GigSlutz as “a soulful, stunning debut”. The following year he released the vulnerable and introspective ‘I’ll Stick Around’, which was chosen by Apple Radio DJ Matt Wilkinson as one of his Hidden Gems of 2022. Both were released on Peter Doherty’s record label ‘Strap Originals’.
Evan has been touring the highways and byways of the UK over the past few years, performing a mixture of intimate solo acoustic gigs and raucous rock ‘n’ roll shows with his band.
In January of 2023 he recorded new material in The Libertines studio at The Albion Rooms in Margate, which you can expect to hear sometime this spring.
