This Easter, two South London institutions make the trip down the M2 to our windy little outcrop for an evening of sweat, smiles and ass shaking.

Rhythm Section have been throwing arguably the best parties in the capital since 2009. Helmed by international deejay, Radio 1 resident and all round nice guy Bradley Zero and studio craftsman, promotion powerhouse and camouflage enthusiast Z Lovecraft, they’re a vinyl only, no-phones-on-the-dancefloor-thank-you-very-much affair, with their broad bookings and egalitarian deck policy setting the tone for a routinely heaving dancefloor.

Their label Rhythm Section International launched in 2014 and was nominated for Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards Label Of The Year in 2015. Consistently breaking new artists and pushing existing ones to the forefront, it’s been a benchmark in how to run a label since its inception.

YAM Records set up shop on Rye Lane in Peckham in 2014, just round the corner from Canavan’s, the erstwhile home of Rhythm Section in the early years. Run by the permanently knackered but always smiling Tom and Theo, it quickly established itself as a hub for the area’s burgeoning music community. All that talent sloshing around led to the start of a record label that has gone on to draw a very neat line through jazz, broken beat, house, techno, UKG and many other disparate strands of the south London music continuum. Taste making releases from Chaos In The CBD, Marijus Aleksa, Footshooter and Ben Hauke all proving the label way ahead of the curve and a standard go-to for a huge number of jocks.

Both Tom and Theo can be found manning the decks at their regular bi-monthly party at Tola, bringing guests and good vibrations of equally high calibre, and on their monthly show on Balamii showcasing the breadth of their musical tastes and depth of their record crates.

We’re very excited to be bringing these guys down to our noisy box on Turner St for an extended evening of rare cuts, rotary mixers and unadulterated joy.
