Prepare yourselves for our 5th of November Bonfire Night Sesh! Strictly Bangers 9pm-3am!
This time we’re upping the tempo and throwing out the rule book to bring you a night of 140-180bpm madness courtesy of some of our favourite DJs and producers; Haslem, Mustard Gunn, Dave Shades, Span&Beatz + El’Jay.
This lot are all headliners in their own right, so we’ve pulled the mates card to get them on the same line-up and bring down the ticket price so you can still afford a bit of leccy for the after-party.
Expect ghetto, juke, booty bass, techno, breaks, rave, hardcore and more!
Haslem – Retox Soundsystem/Hardcore Energy
Legend of the SW free party scene and one of the founders of the epic Retox Soundsystem, an amazing and technical DJ who’s played more sets than we’ve skipped hot dinners, whether that be to a few thousand punters on the grid stage at Boomtown or 5 muddy wasters clinging on at 10am at a Teknival. Expect 90’s breakbeat hardcore to new Chicago heaters, peppered with his own excellent productions which he describes as “hyperactive breakbeat”. We like them so much we robbed a section of his track “Roughneck Bizniss” on the Hardcore Energy Label (out now!) for our Insta/Facebook promo vid.

Mustard Gunn – Coin-Operated
We first encountered Mustard Gunn through his Bangers and Smash Mix, disturbingly now around 15 years old, where he introduced us to the kind of wonky techno (“No-Skool”) that would make your mother wonder where she went wrong with parenting. From there we followed his Coin-Operated label religiously until our paths crossed on the London rave scene. He now DJs regularly at festivals and parties across the UK and will bring a tuff and explosive mix of ghetto-tech, wonky techno, electro, rave and anything else that bangs. You have been warned.

Dave Shades – Horror Boogie/Coin-Operated/Power Vacuum
Turntablist, producer, record label owner, promotor & general power house. Recently back from Berlin where he graced the decks of Hör Radio and showed all those knob twiddling CDJ posers with a Beatport giftcard what a real DJ looks like, Dave is an absolute belter behind the decks, cutting and chopping ghetto, electro and techno like he’s at a Chicago street party with generous sprinklings of Scottish grit and humour. Also to be found behind the decks at huge events such as Bangface Weekender, mashing things up with zero class under his Greggery Peccary alter ego, running the Horror Boogie Label, the Das Booty label (alongside pal Rory Kelly), resident at the Das Booty events, Make Hardcore Happy Again, Often Pompen and releasing tracks on Coin-Operated (Mustard Gunn’s label) and the mighty Power Vacuum (alongside past Special Event bookings Jerome Hill and Mark Broom), needless to say we’re hyped to get him down to Ramsgate. Expect an injection of good times and utter destruction in equal measures.

Span&Beatz – Special Event
Back for round 2! These guys absolutely smashed the first ever Special Event a year ago with an hour of nothing but their own productions. Despite being their debut set they pulled in a crowd as big as our headliners (or bigger?!) and packed out the dancefloor from the moment we opened the doors. Come let them impress you with more unreleased material and good vibes. Special mention to top local producer Harley D for his mastering work behind the scenes!

El’Jay – South Deal School
El’Jay has been bringing the tunes to parties across Thanet and his native Deal for as long as we can remember. Part of the South Deal School collective, born out of the legendary parties at the South Deal Primary School before it was reduced to rubble and replaced by a dull as dishwater housing estate. Down with that sort of thing. Well known for his collection of house, techno and garage, all of which he mixes with impeccable skill and taste, his record collection ranges far wider and he’ll be bringing a bunch of the harder stuff out to play, upping the tempo and whipping out the bangers. You’re not at the Sun Deck any more Jakey boy! Be free and give us your worst!
