For a band that seems to thrive on collapse, it’s simply amazing that this US/Japanese quartet is now celebrating their 31st year. Though Deerhoof long ago established itself as one of the greatest rock groups ever to stride the earth—and if you think that’s hyperbole, you haven’t seen them live—the furiously inventive quartet releases new albums on the schedule of a young band still hungry for its first break. Each one discovers some previously unknown combination of candy-coated hard-rock riffs and free-jazz percussive freakouts, sideways J-pop hooks and fearsome dissonance, trenchant social commentary and surrealist humour. Fronting it all is Satomi Matsuzaki’s inimitable alto, whose plainspoken calm can seem strangely outside of the band’s maelstrom. This music is joyful and foreboding, cybernetic and deeply human, carrying an implicit note of defiant optimism in their refusal to bow to convention or received wisdom. Deerhoof is defined by such paradoxes.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming Deerhoof to the venue soon 🎶
To help make this show as safe and comfortable as possible for everyone, we kindly ask for your support with a few COVID-conscious measures. While it may feel like things have moved on, we want to recognise that some people—especially those with serious health conditions—still face very real concerns in crowded spaces.
Out of respect for the band and fellow attendees, we encourage:
• Being mindful of personal space where possible
• Not attending if you’re feeling unwell
• Considering wearing a mask in busy indoor areas
Let’s work together to create a supportive, inclusive environment so everyone can enjoy the show with peace of mind 💛
Thank you for helping us look out for one another.

SUPPORT: Gimic
“We can’t wait to see Gimic again in the flesh – they have wowed us a few times over the years and their intense, raw live show is a sight to behold and this is one of Lucy Leave’s first show since Divine Schism released their third LP ‘Feelings Explorer I & II’ last month – so intrigued to see which songs from the 26 song colossus they care to share with us in May!“- Deerhoof
