1st December 2024 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm Ramsgate Music Hall - CT11 8NJ

It’s an honour to welcome Immersion to Ramsgate on Sunday 1st December, for a showcase of masterfully hypnotic music!

Immersion are Malka Spigel and Colin Newman, best known for their work with Minimal Compact and Wire. Immersion provides an outlet for their ongoing fascination in crafting enthralling, unique musical soundscapes, drawing from ambient, techno and krautrock, with an innate ear for great pop melodies…

“Immersion manages to achieve a strong sense of human connection between these inseparable post-punk legends and other creative beings”The Quietus

The Immersion project emerged in the early 1990s and has always prided itself on a diversity in approach and an ability to be both self-contained and a vehicle for collaboration. 1999’s Low Impact & 2018’s Sleepless cover very different
aesthetics. More recent work has seen Immersion collaborating with the likes of Tarwater, Laetitia Sadier, Ulrich Schnauss, Scanner, Thor Harris, Cubzoa in their ongoing Nanocluster series of events & albums.

Other than a few compilation tracks near the beginning of the millennium, Immersion weren’t heard from for a while, as Newman resumed his duties as Wire‘s frontman, and both Newman and Spigel released several albums as part of the alternative rock group Githead. Immersion returned in 2016 with the full-length Analogue Creatures Living on an Island (also released as two separate vinyl EPs), a far more melodic, Krautrock-esque effort than their previous releases. This was followed by 2018’s Sleepless, which featured guest drumming by Matt Schultz of Holy Fuck.

“Thanks to panoramic production and Newman’s deluge of melodic hooks, Sleepless is, as per the band name, like a lovely warm bath for the soul”Q Magazine
