POLECATS formed in North London in the late 1970s and played a crucial part in spearheading the neo-rockabilly movement emerging in early 1980s Britain.
The band embraced the traditional elements of rockabilly, such as the slap-back upright bass and twangy guitar riffs, while infusing their music and style with postmodern influences from punk and new wave. They released their debut studio album, Polecats Are Go! (February 1981), and within a couple of months appeared twice on Top of the Pops with their explosive energy and elastic dancing moves. By 1983, Rockabilly Guy and reinterpretations of Jeepster (T-REX) and John, I’m Only Dancing (David Bowie) were all top-40 hits, while Make a Circuit With Me also made U.S. charts.
Led by the charismatic and versatile frontman, Tim Polecat, the band continues to be loved for their catchy melodies, slick guitar riffs, and high-energy stage presence. In their Class of ’82 lineup, with Tim, Boz, Phil, and John, POLECATS are rockin’, crackin’, snappin’, and poppin’ fun dealers with lasting appeal to both nostalgic fans and contemporary audiences wishing for memorable great tunes by authentic vintage hipsters.
Sonny West’s VOODOO VENDORS – the hot & heavy stomp-your-feet-and-dance swampy, blues duo. They have toured with the likes of Bob Geldof and Lonnie Donegan. Their reputation as an original and explosive live band is unquestionable, with fans that include Ronnie Wood. Former Rolling Stones‘ manager Richard Hattrell called them: “The best blues duo I’ve seen in 43 years in the business!”
